PS urges health sector to rise to DTC relocation challenge

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health (MoH) Dr Kolaatamo Malefho has urged stakeholders in the health sector to "up their game" and provide quality health care in the face of the relocation of the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) to Botswana.

He said government alone will not be able to adequately provide for the influx of people expected in Gaborone because of the development.

He said if health care is not up to the standards investors are used to, there is a risk that they will choose not to live in Gaborone. "We need to up our game to meet this challenge," he said yesterday. Dr Malefho was speaking at a meeting convened by the MoH and stakeholders in the health sector to discuss the Botswana Health Partners Forum - a formal partnership platform between the private sector and government that will provide opportunities for the two parties to meet regularly and deliberate on the health sector's key priorities and strategies.
