Project to meet Boteti, North West water demand

FRANCISTOWN: The Boteti Northern Cluster Water Supply (BNCWS) is set to meet water demand in its service areas for the next two decades, a senior official in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) has said.

Deputy Permanent Secretary, Halakangwa Mbulai told The Monitor last week that the project will address water shortages in Boteti area and the North West District for the next 20 years. She said that the project will cater for villages such as Khumaga, Moreomaoto, Motopi, Makalamabedi, Phuduhudu and Chanoga. "The scope of the project includes supplying the above mentioned villages with water from boreholes and from the Boteti River and upgrading village reticulation pipelines," she explained.

She said the villages will be supplied with water from boreholes, which are located 10 to 15km north west of Phuduhudu village. "The borehole water will be treated at the two Reverse Osmosis Plants (ROP) in Phuduhudu and Motopi before it is supplied to the villages. Other sources of water are the Boteti River which is currently flowing," she said.
