President Khama sends message of condolence #Matsha

I have learnt with a sense of great sorrow about the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of some of our promising young citizens, leaving several others severely injured.

On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Botswana and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to convey to the bereaved families, the school and Kang Community, as well as all Batswana, my heartfelt condolences and sympathies.

This is not only a loss to the affected families, but to the nation as a whole. As a young country, when we lose young lives in such numbers, we feel very strongly that we have been robbed of the future or the promise and potential from these young people.

Whilst this is a very tragic and unfortunate incident to befall us, it is always during such situations that we have shown resolve and resilience as Batswana through our value system of supporting each other during these difficult and trying times.

Let me also take this moment to wish speedy recovery to the injured.

May I also ask the nation to join me in praying for the families of the victims, relatives and friends for God to offer them solace and comfort during these trying times.

May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace.
