'Politicians partly to blame for poor exam results'

The Minister of Education and Skills Development (MOESD) Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi blames political leaders for the dismal 2011 Botswana General Certificate in Secondary Education (BGCSE) results, The Monitor has established.

Speaking in Parliament on Friday, Venson-Moitoi conceded her introduction (in 2009) into the Education Ministry was marred by inadequate facilities and teachers' threats of non-invigilation. However, she partly blamed opposition political leaders for the gloomy post-civil service strike exam results.

"The strike was meant to last 10 days only but it went on for three months, something that was not planned for.
