Police Warn The Public On Fraud

Police in Gaborone are worried by the number of cases in which people lose their money to fraudsters. Last week the police registered three cases of obtaining by false pretences in which money amounting to P242 900 was swindled from three people.

Two of the three cases involved selling and buying of residential plots while the other involved purchasing of a JCB loader machine. In the latter case, a 50-year-old man was swindled over P102 000 by another who had promised to sell him a loader machine, which was never delivered. The Botswana Police Service continue to warn members of the public against some tricksters who use different techniques to deceive people with the aim of robbing them. The public is encouraged to go through correct procedures of making purchases and check.
