Police report deaths and traffic offences

The reports indicate that in other related offences, the police have charged 932 motorists for excessive speed, out of 2, 507 cases of traffic violation in the past week. A breathalyser test for alcohol was conducted on 246 motorists and 20 of them have been charged for driving under the influence of alcohol whilst 28 other motorists were booked for using hand-held mobile phones whilst driving.


Meanwhile, three murder cases were reported during the past week and all the suspects were arrested. Since the beginning of the year, 124 murder cases were recorded compared to 94 recorded during the same period last year.
The police have also recorded 40 armed robbery cases in which cash amounting to over P245, 000-00 and property valued at over P80, 000-00 were stolen.
Out of the 40 armed robbery cases reported, six involved the use of handguns, 23 involved knives, and the rest involved various weapons. This brings the number of armed robbery cases reported since the beginning of the year to 1027 compared to 956 recorded during the same period in 2006.
