Police await autopsy report on Chinese engineer

PALAPYE: Police here have not concluded investigations into an accident that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Chinese engineer at Morupule B construction site recently, Mmegi has established.

The engineer reportedly fell from a 20-meter high tower when the safety catch on his belt came undone. Assistant Superintendent Meshack Ranku says the incident took place at 5pm on August 22.

"Indications are that the Chinese engineer fell from a 20-meter tower after a safety belt came undone," Ranku told Mmegi. "He was certified dead upon arrival at the hospital." He added that they were still waiting for a post mortem report to establish the cause of death for a certainty. "We have not yet established what could have really happened to trigger the accident," he said.  "We intend to address workers at the construction site on safety precautions after we conclude our investigations."
