Phikwe faced with shortage of medication

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The copper mining town continues to be affected by shortage of medication at government health facilities.

In an interview with Mmegi this week, Selebi-Phikwe district health management team public relations officer, Onalethata Nkwe said shortage of medication is not only experienced in Selebi-Phikwe, stating that this challenge emanates from Central Medical Stores (CMS), where they get the drugs.

"The Ministry of Health has given us permission to buy emergency drugs. On this note, procuring drugs is not an easy exercise. We obtain a quote from local pharmacies then return the purchase to the pharmacies. Secondly, there are few local pharmacies in Selebi-Phikwe to supply drugs instantly," she said.
