Patlakwe rape case adjourned to Friday

The case in which former government journalist, Norman Patlakwe has been charged with rape has been adjourned to Friday when defence lawyer, Basimane Bogopa is expected to finish his submissions. Yesterday, the lawyer argued that the prosecution does not have a case against his client.

Bogopa told Village Magistrate, Olivier Zvedi that the state had failed to establish all the essential elements of a rape charge. He said the testimony against his client was unsafe because of the many contradictions. Patlakwe is a former Btv head of news and is currently working as the communications manager at the Public Enterprises Evaluation and Privatisation Agency (PEEPA). He is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl at a lodge in Mogoditshane in June last year after giving her a lift from Mmakgodi.
