Parties gear for Gaborone ward by-election

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has announced that it is fielding Nunu Lekau in the Gaborone West-South's Marulamantsi ward by-election, following the death of Botswana National Front (BNF) councillor Kabo Masole.

Although the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has not released dates for the by-election, the country's political parties have moved into the area and all look set for the fight.

Botswana Congress Party (BCP) publicity secretary Dumelang Saleshando says Diphetogo Maswabi will represent their party in the battle to retain Marulamatse ward. Maswabi retired from the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) after 11-years of service. Lekau and Maswabi were nominated unopposed in their respectively parties.
