Parties brace for by-elections

FRANCISTOWN: Major political parties are bracing for by-elections in three wards in the country that have been declared vacant because the councillors died.

Seronga ward in the Chobe District Council lost an independent councillor, Walter Phillips.

The Central District Council was dealt a severe blow by losing the long time councillor for Sebina North, Phumula Tema, of the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). At Selebi-Phikwe Town Council the Botshabelo North councillor Michael Tidimane of the ruling party also died last week and was buried over the weekend.
