P1 million goes missing at Sefalana Hyper

A 28-year-old Mogoditshane man has been arrested in connection with the theft of over P1 million cash and cheques from Sefalana Hyper in Block Three on Monday.

A media release from the Botswana Police Service states that the man was arrested in connection with the incident, which happened during the night. The police say they have also recovered over P165,000 cash and over P110,000 in cheques. They allege that the culprits used explosives to blast the safe open, where the money was kept. The arrested suspect is yet to appear in court.

In a similar case, Broadhurst Police are investigating a case in which thieves broke into and stole about P35,000 from Pep Store in Broadhurst Industrial on Monday night. The police further allege that the culprits used explosives to blast the safe. No one has been arrested in connection with the case. Police are appealing for any information in both cases.
