Orientation class to replace planned pre-school programme

Government will introduce Standard One Orientation in all schools and Reception Classes in schools with surplus classrooms as an alternative interim measure for the pre-school programme that has been suspended.

 The Assistant Minister of Education, Patrick Masimolole, told Parliament recently that the interim measure would be piloted mainly in four selected schools in Kgatleng and Kgalagadi in January next year.

Masimolole said introduction of the pre-school programme was among projects that were deferred indefinitely because of the 2008 recession.
