Opposition parties shoot themselves in the foot

The anticipated opposition unity talks have hit a snag even before they could get off the ground. In other words, there is already bad blood between the parties that are supposed to engage in the talks.

This is particularly so following the decision by the Botswana National Front (BNF) and the Botswana Peoples Party (BPP) to contest against each other in the Shashemooke council by-elections to be held on February 26.

The two parties are pointing accusing fingers at each other in Shashemooke.  The BNF claims that it came second in the ward during the last elections and deserves to contest with the full backing of the other opposition parties.
