The books of the Bamalete Lutheran Hospital in Ramotswa are said to be in the red following the departure of a German mission, which has been assisting the hospital financially. However the hospital chief executive officer, Moagi Mmitsi, seemed to play the proverbial ostrich when he said the situation was under control.

Mmegi is however reliably informed that at a meeting held last week, which Moagi denied was ever held, employees were told not to expect their salaries at the end of the month.

“We were called for a meeting and told that the government could not bail the hospital out and that we are likely not to get our salaries. In addition, there is no food for patients,” a source said.
