Ntuane withdraws question on Security Systems

The Member of Parliament for Gaborone West, Botsalo Ntuane, has withdrawn a question he had intended to ask the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Edwin Batshu, about Security Systems' burial scheme.

Ntuane was to ask Batshu whether he is aware that on 20 October 1988, Security Systems established and registered a burial scheme under the pretext that it would benefit its employees. He had also intended to ask why the scheme had not benefited a single employee and what the P20 monthly deductions from workers' pay was for.Furhter, Ntuane had wanted to know if it is true that the security company has instead used funds from the scheme to run the affairs of the company and if so, will the employees be paid back their contributions with accrued interest?Had he not withdrawn his question, Ntuane would have asked whether in light of what is happening at Security Systems, Batshu will carry out a full investigation to determine whether the company had not breached the tenets of the scheme and operated in a manner not originally intended.
