TONOTA: Following a motion of no confidence in the chairman of the Tonota Sub-District Council, Botho Ntirang, last week the council has resolved to remove him from the post.

It all started at the council chambers when the Botswana National Front (BNF) councillor for Tonota west, Lemme Kgopa passed a motion of no confidence in Ntirang, asking the house to remove him from his position with immediate effect.

Thereafter, the house was thrown into animated chaos when those who opposed the motion, including Ntirang himself, insisted that as a sub-district, the council was not competent to discuss the motion. Those who backed the motion insisted that whether or not the law supported the move was immaterial. They argued that a resolution by their group was sufficient ground for the chairman's removal.
