Nthomiwa testifies in ex-colleagues' legal battle

LOBATSE: Registrar and Master of High Court Godfrey Nthomiwa was called yesterday called to testify in a case in which a magistrate has been sued by a former colleague for over P200,000.

The case involves former Broadhurst senior magistrate, Shavirai Mawere, who is suing former Molepolole principal magistrate Nehemiah Mugoni for P250,000. The lawsuit comes after Mugoni wrote to the Judicial Service Commission and Registrar of the High Court not to renew Mawere's contract. In the letter Mugoni was complaining that Mawere had been applying delaying tactics in his handling of cases so government could extend his contract.

Nthomiwa told court that in May 2007, Mugoni was the head of station at the Broadhurst Magistrate Court. He confirmed that Moguni made the report that Mawere is complaining of.
