In a surprising turn of events, Botswana government has turned down visa application for South Africa's Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema.

Malema was expected to arrive in Gaborone today. The EFF leader was scheduled to attend the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) star rally in Molepolole North on Saturday and to launch Borakalalo ward council candidate Arafat Khan.

The Director at the Department of Immigration Mabuse Pule, has denied earlier media reports that Malema was granted visa saying his application was still being processed.
