SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) parliamentary candidate for Selebi-Phikwe West Moeti Mohwasa has said that only a native of the town can effectively articulate local issues, not a politician on transit.

Mohwasa said that he understands the problems faced by the community of Selebi-Phikwe where he will be facing off against Opelo Makhandlela of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) and Dithapelo Keorapetse of the Botswana Congress Party (BCP).  He said that as a politician who was raised in Selebi-Phikwe he is better suited than his rivals to represent the constituency in Parliament.

“I am standing because I know problems peculiar to this town and I would never stand for elections anywhere else,” he said. Though he appreciated that his opponents have their own roadmaps for the constituency, Mohwasa said he did not believe that they understood and related to the local problems like he did.
