No turning back for BNF's Moumakwa

Kgalagadi North legislator, Obakeng Moumakwa has turned down a last minute proposal from party members begging him not to resign from parliament, at least until the end of his term.

Inside sources reveal that a secret meeting last week between Moumakwa and his rival councilor, Phillip Khwahe of Kang North, councillor Motsamai Motsamai of Ncojane and two other higher party members in the constituency, explored possibilities of Moumakwa withdrawing his resignation.

It is reported that Moumakwa was cornered into a meeting with an agenda for him to re-consider his resignation. It is understood that party officials pleaded with Moumakwa to finish his five-year term. Sources say there was panic in the constituency that the BNF would lose the Kgalagadi North constituency to the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
