Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure Science and Technology (MIST) Kagiso Mokotedi said that the committee that was appointed in January to look into the project has completed its job and submitted the report to the relevant authorities.

He revealed that part of the project was complete and handed over to the client, but the problematic part was the pitch, which needed to be redone. Mokotedi attributed the main problems to the Consultant, Tectura International, with which they have since parted ways to give way for a possible legal battle. He accused the consulting firm of coming up with designs that were in conflict with the project, hence the problems and delays in handing over the project.

He said that they have made a request to the government to assist with the additional P10 million and the stadium is likely to be ready for use after six months. The project was budgeted for P65 million and approximately P60 million was already paid out to the contractor.
