No 'newspaper of the year award' yet - MISA

The Sunday Standard, after clinching the 'Best Newspaper Design of the Year Award' for the third time in a row - the only award they won at the awards held last Friday carried a front page headline boasting that it clinched the Newspaper of the Year Award except that such an award does not exist and the paper's claim could be grossly misleading.
Thapelo Ndlovu, MISA Information and Research officer, said the correct name of the award given to the Sunday Standard is, "Best newspaper design".
"Newspaper of the year and the Best newspaper design are not one and the same thing. Maybe usually newspaper houses here refer to it as the Newspaper of the year award", Ndlovu said. However, the MISA official said perhaps the fact that the Sunday Standard called the award, "the Newspaper of the year award" indicates that media houses are hungry for an award like that.
