No Kid Gloves For Female Recruits - Masire

The Botswana Defence Force commander, Lt Gen Tebogo Masire says female recruits who will be sent to Tanzania for training won't get any different training to that of men.

"The commander there told me: 'We are going to mix these ladies with the male recruits and give them the same treatment. By the time we are done with them you wont be able to work out among them who is a man and who is a woman. They will be able to do everything their male counterparts can do'," Masire revealed yesterday at a panel discussion at the Sir Seretse Khama barracks.

The moderator was University of Botswana academic, Zibani Maundeni, while the panellists consisted of Masire, Colonel van Wyk-Security Adviser in the South African High Commission, UB academic, Onalenna Selolwane and gender activist Imelda Molokomme.
