MACHANENG: An HIV positive woman of Mokobeng Village near hear has almost lost all hope of being rescued from the ravenous virus because she cannot access treatment. Since testing positive in 2007, Galebotse Tlou (39) cannot access treatment for HIV because although she was born in Botswana, she is technically stateless.

Her mother was a South African who obtained Botswana citizenship after marrying Galebotse's father around 1954. Her six-month old baby boy died of AIDS two weeks ago.  Galebotse has been turned away from Sefhare Primary Hospital with the advice that she should at least produce a birth certificate.
