No appeal for ARV thieves - judge

FRANCISTOWN: The Francistown High Court yesterday quashed an appeal by two men convicted of stealing Anti-Retroviral (ARV) drugs.

Justice Moses Chinhengo dismissed an attempt to appeal to the Court of Appeal. They were sentenced to four and half years for stealing ARV tablets worth P128,080 at the Maun General Hospital pharmacy on November 20, 2006.

The appellants, Bashi Mokwatso and Metlha Maphanyane, were serving a jail term and their co accused, a Nigerian prohibited immigrant, Anthony Ikechukwu was sentenced to three and half years for receiving stolen property.
