Chief Justice Julian Nganunu is said to be fighting for his life at Johannesburg's Milpark hospital in South Africa.

Unconfirmed reports say Nganunu is suffering from a heart-related illness, which left him in a coma. The Registrar and Master of the High Court, Godfrey Nthomiwa said in an interview yesterday that Nganunu did not show up for work starting from Monday this week. Nthomiwa said in the meantime, Justice Maruping Dibotelo has been appointed Acting Chief Justice until further notice.

Nthomiwa said they were aware that Nganunu was sick, but would not be drawn into discussing the seriousness of the illness or where he is receiving medical attention.
