New BDP youth leaders accused of financial fiddling

The newly refurbished Botswana Democratic Party National Youth Executive Committee (NYEC) is reeling under fresh allegations of embezzlement of funds, barely three months into its term, according to inside sources.

In their first meeting held on August 11, three of the four teams failed to account for funds they had claimed during the period July-August financial period. The financial report reflects that one team used P9,110 for fuel and meals on a mobilisation trip.

There is also a deduction for the chairman's accommodation which is reflected as P760, bringing the total used for meals and transport to P8,350 a figure which some members have described as 'ridiculous'.
