NEDC approves 13 youth fund projects

FRANCISTOWN: The North East District Council (NEDC) has approved 13 out the 32 applications for the Youth Development Fund (YDF). NEDC chairperson City Kealotswe said the District Economic Development Committee has rejected another 13 applications while six have been deferred.

He encouraged more youth to apply for the P4 million allocated to NEDC under the YDF. "This application form has no opening and closing dates and therefore the youth are encouraged to utilise the programme. Councillors should also intervene to assist the youth for sustainable and well thought out business ideas," he said.

He stated that youth empowerment continues to be a top priority in NEDC. That is why the council  has embarked on onsite business awareness training workshops."The main objective of these workshops is to equip youth with requisite business skills for the generation of quality business ideas and proposals," Kealotswe explained. He said the workshops would help to sensitise youth on government economic empowerment support machinery and regulatory frameworks in business.
