My Malawi experience

BLANTYRE: The flashy and fancy flight that Malawi operates totally contradicts the status of the airport in Blantyre. In fact, the airport is a true reflection of the city's economic status.

Perhaps, it was because I had expected more than what the town has to offer. I imagined a beautiful town with skyscrapers, dual carriageways, roundabouts, traffic lights and fancy cars dominating good road networks, hence I could not resist the urge to see myself in the central business district (CBD) of this town with an English name, Blantyre (named after David Livingstone's birth place in Scotland).

I only learnt a day before leaving my country that I would be travelling alone to Malawi, but instead of feeling a bit nervous, especially about the lengthy processes at the "most complicated" Oliver Tambo (ORT) International Airport in Johannesburg, I was eager to fly to Blantyre on my own with the e-ticket being my only source of directions/information.
