Botswana National Front (BNF) president Otsweletse Moupo has started cracking the whip in what is believed to be a clamp down on indiscipline within the party.

Last week Mogalakwe challenged Moupo to suspend or expel him from the party, following a warning at the BNF congress in Serowe where the party president vowed to take action against party dissidents who wash party dirty linen in public.
The letter, signed by BNF secretary general, Mohammed Khan, says Mogalakwe has violated section 4.9 and 4.14 of the party's code of discipline.

"It has come to the BNF Executive Committee's attention that you are in the habit of discussing party matters and attacking the party leadership in public," reads the letter.
According to the letter from Khan, the BNF executive committee has resolved to charge Mogalakwe with "gross misconduct" for unauthorised dissemination of party internal matters to the media, contrary to the BNF code of discipline.
