Last year there was a political storm within the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) that saw the formation of a new political party in Botswana, the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD), which is currently the main opposition party in the country. The Monitor Correspondent Gasebalwe Seretse interviewed the interim chairperson of the party about his aspirations for the New Year taking into account the challenges of the past year.

The Monitor: This year, the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) will be celebrating its first anniversary, what future do you foresee for the newly formed party?

Motswaledi: I see the dawn of a very bright future punctuated by humility, hard-work, peace, success and victory; a future with opportunities; a future of gainful transformation for Botswana and Batswana
