Mokopakgosi acts as BEC head

Following the suspension of its Executive Secretary, Dr Serara Moahi, the Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has appointed Professor Brian Mokopakgosi as acting head of the organisation while investigations into the conduct of last years' examinations continue.

Among his specific assignments is to manage the conduct of the 2013 examinations to ensure that the results are released timely and with minimal hiccups and to coordinate board committees assigned to address recommendations of the report of the investigation.

Mokopakgosi will also work "to ensure the expeditious implementation of the decisions the Board; and also to provide leadership for major projects of the Council such as transformation of BEC that will result from the amended Act", according to a statement.
