More than 12 employees from the Ministry of Health were transported to Ext. 2 clinic and Princess Marina Hospital after they fell sick during a workshop held at Gaborone Sun Hotel yesterday. The employees were suspected to be suffering from food poisoning.

According to one eyewitness, the meeting was abandoned in the morning after some participants started vomiting and others had complained of stomachache leading to regular toilets visits.

Some are said to have collapsed. On realising the seriousness of the situation, the ministry and hotel management called paramedics who arrived with three ambulances that ferried the sick to the nearby health facilities.
