In what Village Principal Magistrate Lot Moroka described as "a dramatic turn of events", Gaborone businessman Jeremiah Modise has pleaded guilty to charges of robbery in which approximately P5 million was stolen at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in December last year.

The court heard that Modise and four others who were not in court robbed employees of Fidelity Cash Management Services US$800,000 and euro 80,000 (about P5million) and that before stealing the money, they assaulted the employees threatening them with guns.

Modise previously pleaded not guilty to the charge. The trial should have started yesterday and seven witnesses from South Africa were ready to testify.
Seven others were supposed to testify next week.
