Mixed pleas in Zambians� elephant tusk case

Muwena Bisapa (45) from Indeko compound in Lusaka, Muti Ashilly from Malota Maramba in Livingstone, (38) and a Motswana national Atlarelang Maupo appeared in court on Tuesday charged with illegal possession of government trophies being elephant tusks.
Charges against Maupo were however withdrawn as the case began with prosecutors citing insufficient evidence. Bisapa and Ashilly are facing a single count of unlawful possession of elephant tusks, after being found in possession of 32.2 kilogrammes of ivory valued at P48,811.98.
As many wondered what wrong the young boy could have done to end up killed, it emerged that his own cousin was a suspect in the murder after he claimed P50,000 from Botswana Life.
