Men demand laws thaat punish women

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Men have been urged to discard their egos and report any form of abuse by their female counterparts so gender-based violence programmes can include them.

Because men tend to sweep such abuses under the carpet, it appears as if the available programmes exclude them. During a gender-based workshop on Wednesday male participants who were drawn from BCL and Botswana Prisons indicated that they succumb to abuse by women but because of their traditional upbringing they suffer in silence for fear of being treated as weaklings.

They indicated that this is the main reason why cases of assault appear to affect more women because men resort to beating up their wives and girlfriend instead of reporting them.
