Assistant Minister of Education Moggie Mbaakanyi has suggested to Parliament to consider a law on legislators and councillors' term of office.

She said the constitutional provision limiting the presidential term to 10 years in office should be extended to legislators and civic leaders to give others a chance. "There is too much complacency and people think these are their seats," she said. She pointed out that parliamentarians have a tendency of choosing their successors when they retire from politics.

She praised MPs Boyce Sebetela and Obakeng Moumakwa who are quitting Parliament this week. Mbaakanyi indicated that the two were not leaving because they have failed. She said they are leaving because they had played their part. "Let us change leadership," charged the Specially Elected MP.
