Matsiloje police/BDF tag team arrest crime

MATSILOJE: Since members of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) were deployed here some years ago, residents have grown accustomed to their high presence.

Troop carriers speeding up and down the village have become the order of the day in Matsiloje, a sleepy village, 44km north of Francistown.Infact, the BDF has two camps in the small village. One camp is said to be near Lephaneng cattlepost while the other is situated near Madibeng cattlepost. But it seems the soldiers tag team with their police counterparts is paying dividends.

It is understood that the men in camouflage have camped in Matsiloje, which is along the border with Zimbabwe for anti-poaching and border patrol work. "They are on a trip and are changed after every two months. Since they have been deployed here, border jumping has decreased," said village elder, Mocumi Setime.
