Masita sits in global body for anti-money laundering

The Chairman of parliament's two oversight committees, MP Robert Masitara has been appointed into the Global Task Force for anti-money laundering.

He represents Africa and will serve for  five years in the global body. Masitara says his membership was confirmed on Friday via email.Anti money laundering global task force is a programme for the Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), an international network for the promotion of good governance and combating corruption throughout the world.

Masitara's appointment follows his impressive presentations at the GOPAC's fifth conference in Philippines in February this year, where he made two presentations on anti money laundering and the importance of internal audit function. He also presented on controls over public procurement. It was Botswana's first appearance at GOPAC platform.An elated Masitara told The Monitor that after his presentations in the Philippines, the chairman of GOPAC approached him and asked him to submit his CV for consideration for membership.
