Martin's Drift Police Station commander, Superintendent Moses Morolong said the matter occurred at around 8pm in Morebodi ward, Tumasera. He said the irate young man pounced on his 32-year-old girlfriend in an attack at her home after the boyfriend had attempted to reach her through the phone without an answer. "The suspect allegedly came to his girlfriend's place looking furious, alleging to have tried to get hold of her through the phone and her mobile phone was off. He assaulted her in the presence of her uncle and when trying to intervene to calm him down he subsequently stabbed him with a knife in his ribs," he said.
However, Morolong said luckily the uncle didn't sustain life-threatening injuries because he was treated and released from the hospital the same night. "In the process, the young man allegedly uttered the words 'I will kill you' to his girlfriend and she reported the matter to the police. He has been charged with threat-to-kill and grievous bodily harm and is likely to be arraigned for both counts sometime this week before Palapye Magistrates Court," he said.
