Man arrested for defiling 13-year-old

FRANCISTOWN: Tutume police are investigating a case in which a 28-year-old man is alleged to have defiled a 13-year-old schoolgirl and kept her in his house for five days.

Tutume Police Station Commander superintendent Vusimusi Jorowe told Mmegi that the Standard Seven pupil came to Tutume for Christmas holidays from Selebi-Phikwe and was supposed to go back on January 9.  "The child was supposed to go back to Phikwe on the 9th of this month to prepare for school. She was nowhere to be found and the parents reported to the police the following day," he said.

Jorowe said with the help of the public, they found the child walking about in the village after five days. When she arrived home, she told her parents that she had been staying with a certain man she is in love with. Jorowe said they later apprehended the suspect at a funeral.
