Man arraigned for rape and murder

FRANCISTOWN: A 23 year-old man of Matapudza Ward in Sebina, who allegedly raped a woman on Saturday before stabbing her to death was arraigned before the Masunga Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Tutume Station Commander, Superintendent Vusimusi Jorowe, said the man is facing charges of rape and murder. The man is allegedly to have pounced on the woman, who was a student at Marobela Brigade in the wee hours of Saturday.

He said the woman was returning to the school from a drinking spree with her schoolmates when the incident occurred. Allegations are that while on the way, an unknown man emerged from behind the women and followed them. "This man then attacked this other woman while her colleagues fled," he said.
