Makhubu JSS vow to maintain spirit of excellence

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Makhubu Junior Secondary School has vowed to continue excelling in junior certificate examinations. The school managed to get one merit, 23 A's, 93 B's, 72C's, 36 D's, 5 E's and four were ungraded during the 2012 examinations.

Speaking during the school victory commemoration event over the weekend, the school head, Maria Mbale said the results were the result of team work, commitment and dedication. She pointed out that there has been a remarkable consistence of performance among their students over the years. Mbale said that the school got position two in the entire country with 80.8 percent and 96.2 percent quantity. Orapa JSS got position one followed by Meepong JSS, another school in Selebi-Phikwe.

"We have sent 92.74 percent of our students who sat for the 2012 junior certificate examinations to senior secondary schools, which also put us at position three in the central region considering the transition rate," she said.Mbale also announced that 14 of Makhubu JSS teachers managed to beat the set quality target of 70 percent and four managed to beat the target for quality, which stands at 92.2 percent.She pointed out that the change in the curriculum was a challenge, but they came up with ways of paving the way through by having in service workshops, team teaching, supervision and monitoring.
