Maintenance-accused pleads not guilty

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Isaac Ramatshaba (25), who is facing 19 counts of failure to comply with a court order for the maintenance of his child, has pleaded not guilty.

When he appeared before Senior Magistrate Hauwa Nuru, the accused said the case should continue as all witnesses he had attempted to summon to court to give evidence refused to appear.

Ramatshaba, who is allegedly in arrears of over P4,000, told the court that the reason why he has failed to pay is that he has not been able to secure the money and he used the little money he had raised for the burial of the child in question.
