A company owned by Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) chairperson of the finance sub-committee, Caroline Lesang, who is also the Mayor of Lobatse, is raising eyebrows over the manner in which it is winning tenders for the supply of bread in the southern parts of the country.

The former treasurer of the BDP Women's Wing, as well as a central committee member of the ruling party, has recently been reported to be eyeing the chairmanship of the BDP Women's Wing at this year's elective congress.

Out of 26 tenders for the supply of bread, covering Lobatse, Manyana, Kanye, Ranaka, Moshupa, Nhlanhle, Thamaga, Good Hope, Mmathethe, Lesang's company, Slimber Investment - trading as Casesi Bakery - has swept 23 of the tenders, the remaining three going to Prestige Bakery (two) and Phoenix Bakery (one).
Jwaneng tenders are not included because they have been halted due to complaints from other bidders over the tendering process.
