Limkokwing students to be called for disciplinary hearing

Limkokwing University management says it will be issuing letters to suspended students for them to appear for disciplinary hearings.

Limkokwing students held a class boycott over the method by which they would receive their book allowances. The Department of Tertiary Education Funding (DTEF) informed students that they would only issue 50 percent of the student's allowance in cash, while the other 50 percent would be credited to their student cards. The students insist on receiving the full amount in cash. In a media briefing held at the Univeristy of Botswana (UB) last week, Limkokwing SRC president, Poloko Pitwane, appealed for students in police custody to be released and the suspended ones, to be reinstated. He further said their suspension was an act of sabotage in an attempt to prevent them from fully representing students in court where they have filed a case. He also said the suspensions should have been rolled out immediately after the first class boycott. Pitwane added that when they presented a letter to management asking them to address the student body, they were instead served with suspension letters.Pitwane said they have informed the university's management that their lawyer will collect the suspension letters.
