Lawyer argues against closure of SADC Tribunal

A senior law lecturer at the University of Botswana (UB) has argued that the closure of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Tribunal does not augur well for SADC's objectives of attaining regional integration and economic growth.

Obonye Jonas said this is because respect for human rights and the establishment of mechanisms for enforcing them when violated constitute an indispensable and essential condition for an effective regional integration process and ultimately, economic prosperity.
