Kwelagobe pays homage to Temane

The Chairman of the Molepolole South region of the Botswana Democratic Party Kabo Morwaeng says it is time the government recognised sacrifices made by veteran MPs.

Morwaeng said as was the case with former presidents, the government should extend pensions to former MPs and councillors for their contribution to developing Botswana's democracy.

"Presidents don't work alone," Morwaeng said. "They work with legislators and councillors. Leadership is collective, so we don't want to see our leaders impoverished as if they did not do anything for this country. Something should be done. This will enrich our democracy and show that we are a nation that cares for its leaders."
