Former Botswana Congress Party president, Otlaadisa Koosaletse will challenge Lobatse MP Nehemiah Modubule in the Botswana National Front (BNF) primaries for the constituency. He told Monitor that although he is living in his home village of Kanye, his political life is in Lobatse. Koosaletse is a former Lobatse MP.

He rejoined the BNF last year after losing the BCP presidency to Gil Saleshando and since then he has been out of frontline opposition politics. He denied that he has started campaigning and said he would only take to the stumps at the right time. "I have not addressed a single rally or done a house to house campaign," he said.

Modubule confirmed he is aware that Koosaletse has asked to be transferred from the Kanye South constituency to Lobatse. "I am aware he has transferred to Lobatse because he intends to stand for elections there," said Modubule. The move could spell doom for the MP after he lost the BNF chairmanship to Bashi Segwaketse after a fierce contest that saw the total annihilation of a party faction this year.
